Akin Omisade
Akin was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1992 and was admitted as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of England & Wales in 1998. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (UK Branch). He holds a Master of Law degree (Corporate & Commercial) from the University of Southampton. Akin has been involved in complex international commercial arbitration matters whilst also lending his skills in the areas of secured commercial lending, insurance, litigation and corporate & commercial law.
Akin holds a Diploma of Lloyds in the knowledge of the Lloyds of London Market principles and has worked for some of the syndicate companies in the Lloyds of London market.
Before Akin qualified as a Solicitor he worked with one of the top law firms in Nigeria where he handled banking matters for clients such as American Express in areas of Regulation & Compliance. He is an excellent advocate and has appeared before all courts of records both in Nigeria and England.
Akin has advised ship owners in vessel acquisition matters, UK commercial banks and corporate entities in debt securitization, corporate entities on corporate governance issues as well as in the drafting of commercial arbitration agreements.
