About me

Akin is a distinguished dual-qualified legal practitioner and Head of the Litigation and Dispute Resolution practice at the firm. Called to the Nigerian Bar in 1992 and admitted as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales in 1998, Akin brings over three decades of cross-border legal expertise to the firm’s litigation strategy and execution.

A Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (UK Branch), he holds a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Corporate and Commercial Law from the University of Southampton. His legal career has spanned high-stakes commercial litigation, complex international arbitration, secured lending, corporate governance, insurance, and maritime claims consistently advising on multi-jurisdictional matters with commercial and reputational sensitivity.

Akin has led the firm’s representation in numerous landmark and high-profile cases before superior courts of record in Nigeria and the UK. His litigation work is marked by strategic foresight, advocacy excellence, and the ability to distill and resolve multifaceted legal issues. He has acted for financial institutions, multinationals, government agencies, and prominent individuals in disputes involving contract breaches, regulatory infractions, shareholder actions, and cross-border enforcement.

Before his qualification as a Solicitor in the UK, Akin worked at one of Nigeria’s foremost law firms, representing clients such as American Express in regulatory compliance and banking matters. He also holds a Diploma of Lloyd’s in insurance law and has worked within the Lloyd’s of London market, equipping him with rare insight into international commercial risk.

Akin is widely regarded for his measured yet assertive courtroom style, and his ability to balance litigation with practical, business-minded dispute resolution. He continues to advise on litigation risk, arbitration strategy, and emerging legal issues across industries.
